About This
- Dotted Horse Mint - Monarda Punctata, also known as Spotted Beebalm, Spotted Horsemint, and Dotted Mint is a beloved biennial to short-lived perennial North American native wildflower. Growing in full sun to partial shade and thriving in sandy soils, it is more drought and heat tolerant than other wild bergamot varieties. It blooms from late July to October with small tubular yellow flowers with purple spots and showy purple, pink, or white bracts.
- Easy to Grow Native Wildflower - In USDA Zones 3-10 direct sow outdoors in autumn or start indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. 3-4 weeks of cold stratification can improve germination. Barely cover seeds; light is required for germination. Seeds germinate in 10-30 days at 65-75° F. The plant reaches from 6 inches to 3 feet tall. Occasionally flowers in the first year, but usually in the second year. Each pack contains approximately 675 to 788 seeds.
- Sustainable Living - Spotted bee balm is a versatile and useful herb for any homesteader. The oregano-scented leaves are high in aromatic compounds and the plants have a long history of culinary and medicinal use, especially as herbal tea and essential oil. These unique wildflowers add beauty to your space and are highly attractive to beneficial insects, especially native bees, honey bees, and bumblebees. It is also a host plant for various caterpillar species.
- The Info You Need to Grow - These non-perishable seeds are packed in a beautiful paper packet with instructions for successful growing and germination in your home garden. Each package also has instructions for saving seeds after harvest. Getting started is simple for both beginner and experienced gardeners.
- Small American Family-Owned Business - We’re committed to always providing fresh, high-quality seeds for you to plant now or to store for future growing seasons. We pledge to sell only safe, non-hybrid non-GMO heirloom seeds that are always open-pollinated, untreated, and tested to ensure the best germination rates.
